Dear Members, Following our AGM in May, it is my pleasure to congratulate the new council line-up. Although we have almost the same members continuing to serve in the 2010-2012 council, we are also glad to see some new faces in the council. I congratulate Mr Abdullah Abd Rahim, Mr Lee Low and Hj Mohari Mohamad Tamin on the on their successful election. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the previous council members for their time and contributions to the Society. The new council had its first meeting in June and and subsequent meeting in August. Several activities have been lined up for the rest of 2010. MFS is a co-organiser for the First International Conference on Managing Ecosystem Health of Tropical Seas: Environmental Management in Coastal Ecosystems (ECOSEAS 2010) which will be held from 19-21 October 2010 at IOI Resort Putrajaya. In November, we will be participating in Aquafair Malaysia 2010, organised by the Department of Fisheries. We will have a booth there, so please drop by. We are also upgrading our website to be more interactive and members will be informed when this is ready. As you can see in this issue, Mr Abdullah has volunteered to be the Editor of FishMail. This is a time consuming activity and we would like to thank him for taking up this challenge. The FishMail is an important communication tool for the Society to inform members of its activities and provides technical and industry updates. I would like to add a plea for members to contribute articles as well as new to FishMail. To do this, simply send an email with your article and photos.
